Mayfel's, Asheville's Downtown Dining Delight

The other day my husband and I were once again debating where to eat lunch while walking downtown Asheville, NC when we spotted Mayfel's.  Mayfel's is a cozy little restaurant sandwiched between Tupolo Honey and Spiritex clothing store.  It specializes in southern style home cooking with a New Orleans flair.  There is a front patio along College Street perfect for people watching and four legged friends, along with a courtyard patio, and ample indoor seating with a wonderful bar.  We sat out front where we enjoyed the hustle and bustle of downtown Asheville along with some amazing food.

My husband ate the biscuits and gravy with sausage and a side of the most delicious mac & cheese.  He loved both.  As for me and I enjoyed the B.L.F.G.T, Bacon, Lettuce, and Fried Green Tomato on a Telera Roll with Remoulade sauce and a side of sweet potato fries.   And, all I can say is YUM!  It was the most amazing sandwich.  We had such a wonderful lunch and will definitely return for dinner and drinks another day.  They have a wonderful selection of delicious sounding cocktails I cannot wait to savor.

So, if you are visiting Asheville for the first time or a long time resident and haven't yet enjoyed Mayfel's then add it to your list of amazing Asheville restaurants to try.
